Voting Information for Provincial Election now available

Writer: Engage BarrieEngage Barrie

Elections Ontario has now launched its voting location information at https://voterinformationservice.elections.on.ca/en/election/search

Elections Ontario's website is https://www.elections.on.ca/en.html, with lots of information for voters, candidates, and people looking to work in the election.

We've compiled a list of local candidates (Barrie-Innisfil and Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte), key dates, and other resources at https://www.engagebarrie.org/provincial-election-2025

Registering to Vote

Registering Deadline, February 17

All registered voters should be receiving a card in the mail, detailing your voting options. If you receive this card, you need to bring it and one piece of ID when you go to vote. For a list of eligible ID, visit https://www.elections.on.ca/en/voting-in-ontario/id-to-vote-in-provincial-elections.html#accordionIDtovote

If you are unsure whether you're registered, or have moved since the last election, you have until February 17 to register online (to ensure you receive your voting card) at https://vreg.registertovoteon.ca/en/home

Unregistered Voters

If you miss the registration deadline, you can still register when you go to vote, but you will need to bring a piece of ID showing both your name and home address. For a list of eligible ID, visit https://www.elections.on.ca/en/voting-in-ontario/id-to-vote-in-provincial-elections.html#accordionIDtovote

Voting When You are Unhoused

You may still vote if you have no permanent address. Wherever you have slept or eaten the most in the last five weeks is considered your voting address - this could be a shelter, drop-in, food bank, or community health centre closest to where you currently sleep or are encamped.

If you don't have ID showing both your name and address, a staff person of the shelter, drop-in, food bank or community health centre can provide you with a Certificate of Identity and Residence form. Both you and the Executive Director of the organization must sign the form, and the organization will help you find where you can vote.

Voting By Mail

If you wish to vote by mail, you must apply to do so by 6pm (Eastern Time) on February 21, and Elections Ontario must receive your voting kit by 6pm (Eastern Time) on February 27.

To apply to vote by mail, visit https://votebymail.elections.on.ca
