🏖️🙋 Waterfront Public Consultation Feedback
Report: https://barrie.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=13348612&GUID=FAE01E3C-DC83-43D5-8395-42F5A6A2492D
Recommendation: To receive the report concerning the results of the public consultations related to Marshall Green's report, "The Southshore, Barrie Sports and a Revitalized Downtown"
The report shows overwhelming public agreement with the proposals outlined in Marshall Green's report
Important to note that the recommendation is only to RECEIVE the report - the alternatives presented are to direct staff to take action on one or all of the recommendations in the report, but "receiving" would just mean having the information and not acting on it. Considering the spring plan to put in a multi-purpose sports field at the waterfront was only paused until public consultation was conducted, Council merely "receiving" the report would allow that plan to resume.
Also of note is that one of Green's recommendations was to move the proposed Performing Arts Centre to the current Sea Cadets location - given the architect's drawings for the PAC at the current location are being submitted to Council today as well (see below), and also recommended for receipt only, these two Agenda items have the potential of stalling each project indefinitely, and/or setting up potential conflict between the two proposals.
