Staff from Corporate Asset Management, Development Services, and Economic & Creative Development met with representatives of Hemson to verify the process undertaken in its review of the data
Key Findings
Staff do not dispute Hemson's methodology
There were some discrepancies identified between Hemson's data and the City's assessment of 'investment ready' sites, which could allow further refinement of the net developable acreage of individual properties
The Province recently changed the definition of Employment Land, which put pressure on the City's existing employment areas and what will be considered employment land in the future
Staff receive many site requests for 20-40 ha or larger, which the City has not been able to provide, the need is for 'investment ready' lands of this size, of which the City currently has none
