  • The City's Official Plan, as adopted by Council on March 7, 2022, is back in effect, with the addition of:

    • 6.5.1.3.j) "Where their activity would cause a significant drinking water threat, uses outlined in Policy LUP-1 of the South Georgian Bay Lake Simcoe Source Protection Plan shall not be permitted in vulnerable areas."

  • The City's December 6 submission on additional Official Plan modifications is awaiting response from the Minister, at which time staff will provide an update to Council

  • The Town of Aurora is calling on all levels of government to acknowledge the uncertainty and safety concerns do to recent global unrest, and look at strengthening available tools to deny inciteful speech "that encourages violent extremists the ability to publicly manipulate, advocate, and incite violence or physical harm to another human being, whether it be online or in person", and encourages its community and local leaders of faith to bring the community together to promote peace, healing and understanding


🏚️🎒 The Homelessness Crisis

  • The Town of Aurora is calling on all levels of government to

    • commit to ending homelessness in Ontario;

    • work with the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) and a broad range of community, health and economic partners to develop, resource, and implement an action plan;

    • provide a long-term financial commitment to assist in the creation of more affordable and supportive housing for York Region people in need, including people with substance use disorders; and

    • increase investments in evidence-informed substance use prevention and mental health promotion initiatives that provide foundational support for the health, safety and well-being of individuals, families and neighbourhoods, beginning from early childhood
