🚫🆇 Use of X
Resolution by City of Peterborough, March 17: https://barrie.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=14006228&GUID=1A1BCFCE-1EDB-4DB0-A942-63920861D070
Peterborough is discontinuing the use of X (Twitter) immediately, except for Peterborough Transit, Fire Services and emergency information, and has directed staff to look for ways to eliminate the use of X entirely
This decision was made because X has become a media platform that is not adequately responding to hate speech and misinformation, and continued use of X could be perceived as tacit approval of or association with ideologies that are inconsistent with the City's commitment to freedom, inclusivity and nondiscrimination [it is disappointing that no Barrie councillor referred this item from the circulation list]
