No good-byes, no hellos, just some changes in responsibilities – Treasurer Kenzie Churchward moves from Director to Contributing Member, and Victoria Scott moves from Contributing Member to Director to complete the Board.
Kenzie Churchward
It is with both sadness and gratitude that we announce Kenzie Churchward has stepped down from the Board of Engage Barrie Organization – but will be continuing on as one of our valuable Contributing Members.
Kenzie is co-owner of downtown Barrie's Forgather Floral Co., and her company's incredible success has made it difficult for her to concentrate on governing a non-profit on top of a booming business. We are sorry to see her go, but happy she has such a good "excuse" to leave the Board.
Kenzie was one of the five Founding Board members who stepped in just over a year and a half ago to help turn this grassroots collective into a not-for-profit, and has served as Treasurer since our incorporation in June, 2021. She helped us build a solid foundation for the organization, and her ideas and energy have been invaluable. We know she's not going away away, but we will miss having her as this part of the team.
Kenzie, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your time and dedication to Engage. We wish you all good things for Forgather, and look forward to including you in new adventures as a Contributing Member!
Victoria Scott
We are so lucky to have a dedicated team of Contributing Members – and even luckier that one of them has stepped forward to complete our Board after Kenzie's departure. Please help us welcome Victoria Scott as our newest Director of Engage Barrie Organization.
We first met Victoria through her involvement with our Supervised Consumption Saves Lives - Barrie team, and she remains fiercely dedicated to the SCS and all forms of harm reduction. But her enthusiasm and dedication don't stop there, as she's been giving her time and experience to many other campaigns and issues – including, most recently, as a core member of our Elections Committee. You've probably also seen her under the Engage Barrie tent at Open Air Dunlop this year.
A retired RN, Victoria has tremendous experience in the fields of sexual health, palliative care, and women and violence issues. Her fierce compassion and determination are awe-inspiring, and she's never afraid to tell it like it is, even when it's going against the stream. (She also writes one heck of a letter to the editor.)
Victoria, we are so grateful to you for stepping up and joining the Board. We're also excited to see what new directions you'll take us in!
Remaining Board
Between now and our Annual General Meeting in November, Rob Romanek will serve as Interim Chair, and Alyssa Wright will step in as Interim Treasurer. Paige Power remains as Secretary and Myrna Clark as Director.
